Madeleen Rousseau is a Senior Legal Consultant with Meyer West IP, a boutique legal firm specialising in intellectual property. Prior to this, she was a special counsel to Williams+Hughes Commercial and Litigation Lawyers.
Madeleen specialises in intellectual property law across all aspects. She has substantial experience working with large industrial and commercial enterprises, government agencies and universities on branding, copyright and contractual issues to manage, identify and protect opportunities relating to intellectual property.
She is a regular speaker at industry body workshops and universities. For example, Madeleen has been a guest lecturer at the University of Western Australia within the MBA and Master of Biotechnology programs for many years, providing insights into intellectual property law and related business legal issues.
Before moving to Australia in 2007 she was a partner in a leading South African intellectual property firm. Prior to joining Williams + Hughes, Madeleen was a senior member of the Technology and IP team of one of Australia’s largest law firms.
She has 20 years’ legal practice providing strategic and commercial advice on a wide range of trade mark, copyright and commercial matters relating to governance, risk and management issues involving IP. Madeleen is admitted to practice law in Australia and South Africa.
