Why is a Commercialisation Studies Centre needed?

The world is facing increasing levels of complexity and change due to globalisation and the digital transformation of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The very nature of how competitiveness is defined, understood and measured are changing. To remain competitive, organisations, their managers and employees, must understand how the process of commercialisation is changing, and what are the key drivers of success and failure. This applies to small, medium and large organisations across a range of different industry contexts.
Australia is considered an "inefficient innovator" by the Global Innovation Index (GII) because its national innovation system (NIS) returns "less bang for the buck" in relation to the investment that is put in. Our success in research and invention remains very good, but our success rate in the commercialisation of this innovation is lacklustre. We believe that this can change. The CSC provides a focal point for the sharing and dissemination of knowledge about best practice in commercialisation, as well as assisting organisations address the challenges of industrial change.
Membership is open to small and large firms, universities, government agencies and the wider community. Through this activity it will aim to enhance the level of understanding of how commercialisation should be undertaken, promote best practice, inform, educate and connect our members.
