Let's Talk Commercialisation

What are we talking about?

Commercialisation is something of a "black box" to many people. It is misunderstood and has either a positive or negative image. At CSC we believe that the best way to understand what commercialisation is, and to achieve best practice in commercialisation, is to talk about it. Our Let's Talk Commercialisation (LTC) events are designed to do just that. We assemble panels of people with experience and knowledge of commercialisation, and give you the chance to listen to them, and ask them questions.

The Role of Venture Capital in Commercialisation

In recent study by UWA PhD candidate Kylie Gilbey and Emeritus Professor Terry Marsh from UCLA Berkeley, it was shown that Australia’s VCF market has not followed the US down the PE path. Since the 1990s the two countries have diverged, with Australia maintaining significant growth in IPO ventures compared to the USA. The research suggests the small size of the Australian VCF market makes IPO listings on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) an attractive option for ISFs.

Commercialisation of Innovative Small Firms

This event focuses on the lessons from three innovative small firms (ISFs) from Western Australia, Skin Elements Ltd., Scanalyse Pty Ltd., and Live Technologies Pty Ltd. Each firm operated in a different industry, with different technologies. However, their experiences of commercialisation offer valuable insights and lessons in how to navigate the challenging process of new product development. Their stories, along with those of many other similar firms, are captured in a new research book Commercialisation and Innovation Strategy in Small Firms, newly published by Springer Nature.
