Rob Newman of Nearmap, who has grown the company to Unicorn status and an international success story. It has a market capitalisation of $1.13 Bn and its share price has already rebounded to its pre-COVID levels, demonstrating investor confidence in the stock. Nearmap has its roots in Perth and rivals Canva as one of the most successful tech start-ups to ever come out of this city.
Rob has a long history as an entrepreneur commercialising University research and as an investor. He started in Perth as a PhD student co-founding QPSX Communications and then leading Atmosphere Networks and the venture capital company Stone Ridge Ventures. All these companies have seen extraordinary growth and have provided great lessons in how to scale.
